Clinical Process

1.     The process starts by a referral from your veterinarian describing the medical issue being addressed and the goals.

2.     An initial appointment is made with the Orthotist and the patient to assess, clarify details, costs, goals (patient and prescription) and device options.
The Orthotist will take a cast/model of the leg with measurements, photos and videos if required.

3.     Fabrication: The model of the patients leg is modified though the fabrication process resulting in a durable custom orthosis (brace) or prosthesis.

4.     Fitting appointment: A second appointment is scheduled for the Orthotist to fit the custom device. Adjustments or modifications may be required to the device to ensure a good fit. Fitting instructions, wearing regimes/schedules and care information given.

5.     Follow up review appointment:
Assess the functional abilities of the patient and the function of the device. Adjustments if required to the device. Adjustments are a normal part of the process for a custom device.
